HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT, TOO!

Have you ever thought of how the tradition of wedding cake came to be?

Wedding Cakes
Wedding cakes are a significant part of a Wedding ceremony. Today, wedding cakes are an elaborate multi-tiered artistic extravaganza and at the same time they are a gourmet’s delight. No wonder, couples like to cherish this sweet and special part of their wedding every year by cutting a cake on their anniversary.

History of Wedding Cake
Wedding cakes have been a part of marriage ceremonies since medieval times. In Rome, the first wedding cakes were actually loaves of wheat bread. During the ceremony, the bread was broken over the bride's head as a blessing for long life and many children. Guests often ate the crumbs as a sign of good luck.

Modern Wedding Cakes
Wedding Cakes have undergone a major transformation in present times. Today, they are a multi-tiered elaborate affair. They are prepared in intricate and artistic designs and are the center of all eyes in a wedding ceremony. Personalized decoration in wedding cakes, sometimes even matching in color to the dress of bride and groom are in vogue.

ALL SHOOK UP

ALL SHOOK UP

Trevor and Katie were married this afternoon in our Victorian chapel. I knew we were going to have fun with this couple before they even arrived. In classic VEGAS fashion Trevor and Katie chose to have Elvis perform at their ceremony.

When they arrived we had fun getting all the necessary documents signed and going over the details of their ceremony. Katie had the most beautiful vintage dress and a classic style about her, and her groom was decked out with his black and white sneakers. They had such a fun and playful style, both had contagious smiles that lit up the chapel.

Elvis escorting her down the isle and singing their favorite songs by this legend really showed their playful personalities.
If your looking to express your creativity or love for VEGAS we can certainly customize your special day for you.

Elvis wedding packages can offer all of Chapel of the Flowers extraordinary services such as Videography, Photography, Flower bouquets, and outstanding Planner and Coordinator services, and in attendance...ELVIS himself. Whether you want Elvis to simply sing or if you would like Elvis to perform, sing and walk you down the isle we can coordinate that for you.

Please see our package options at www.littlechapel.com

Congratulations Trevor and Katie, it was a lot of fun being a part of your day!

FAMILY MATTERS

Here it is Friday already, where does the time go? I have been preparing to blog for a couple days now. Trying and thinking too hard about what to blog about or what would everyone want to hear about? Choosing is never easy for me, I get to meet so many really nice couples and their families that sometimes it makes it difficult for me to choose just one to write about.

However I had the great pleasure of coordinating Astrid and Anthony's wedding on Wednesday July 22, 2009.
I knew that Wednesday evening was going to be wonderful from the minute they walked in to the Magnolia Chapel. They welcomed me with such warm smiles and great personalities and they had their adorable son with them. It was a pleasure to see his parents include him on this special day. At one point, just before his beautiful mother was to walk down the isle(escorted by him of course) as I looked at them waiting for the Bridal March to start I noticed just how lovingly this little boy was looking up at his mother. He had the biggest dimpled cheek smile I have ever seen!
I thought wow...this just might be one of the happiest times in his life. He is watching his parents get married. What a wonderful gift.
As the ceremony went on I giggled and smiled watching him play in the pews, and burst at the seams with excitement. It was our photographer, Joe's creativity and pure natural talent that was able to capture not only the love that this couple share for each other but the love that they share for their son as parents. It is nice to know that here at Chapel of the Flowers we are given such opportunities to capture those precious memories for you to cherish years to come, to pass down from generation to generation.

The level of service and care you will be given by our photographers is what sets us apart from the other Chapels in the Las Vegas area. I read a quote the other day by Ansel Adams and thought , Wow that reminds me of the photographers I work with. He said "A great photographer is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed."

We offer an array of Portrait packages that will fit your personality and budget. Whatever style images your looking for our photographers can offer a wide range of styles from traditional and contemporary to what is hip and trendy that can fit into whatever your budget will allow. Need ideas, not sure what you really should include in your package? Please contact one of our planners and we will be able to help guide you into the photo package of your dreams.

It was a pleasure to be able to witness such a wonderful ceremony, I hope you enjoy your photos as much as I enjoyed being a part of your families day. Enjoy your photos and cherish your memories and know that here at Chapel of the Flowers... Family Matters!

The New Kid on The Chapel Block!

The New Kid On the Block

Hello Blogger fans!

I am the newest kid on the block here at The Chapel of Flowers! My name is Tonia and I am one of the new wedding coordinators! My story in finding this “hidden treasure” in the craziness of Las Vegas, is somewhat unique. Prior to my work here, I was a full time nanny for almost 3 years and before that worked as a special event planner for major companies such as Disney, St. Regis Aspen and Opryland Hotel in Nashville. On the side, a striving musician and songwriter. One bright sunny morning, I went for a drive on the Las Vegas Strip and passed by many chapels, however when I saw the chapel of flowers and the beautiful landscaping, something unexpected hit me. I knew this was an elegant and unique place; I was drawn to it immediately. I initially called to see if by chance they were hiring piano players, but it turned out, they needed a wedding coordinator! That creativity and passion to be a part of an awesome planning team was reignited in me and there I was standing in the line of applicants, with a hopeful heart!

Hired!!! It didn’t take long to see that this team was a perfect fit for my personality and background! I have been here only a few weeks and I am just blown away at the talented and passionate people I work with! I can tell you this; you don’t find this kind of team just anywhere! The training has been spectacular and reminds me of my Disney days, when I was taught that doing this job is all about the magic, the experience and inviting “guests” not customers to be a part of it.

All in all, this is truly the BEST hidden treasure of Las Vegas. There are many chapels, that will just rush you in and rush you out, but when you plan your wedding here at The Chapel of flowers, no matter what the situation, we take ownership of your day until it’s carried out to a beautiful perfection and we send you off, the happy newlyweds, to your new life together! Everything taken care of for you!

I’ll say that this is my first of blogs as the new kid on the block! I can’t wait to blog more about the experiences here, some of the awesome weddings I’ll get to coordinate and more! So stay tuned and let me know what you think!

My name is Holly Dunn and I am truly blessed to be a part of Chapel of the Flowers. I started with the chapel on June 15th, 2009, as a wedding coordinator.

I am a Las Vegas native but have also lived in Minnesota (Did the Minnesota winters for 13 years but will take the heat of our summers any day) I moved back home last June and it is true home is where your heart is. I love this town, and all the people that make Las Vegas memorable for so many of our couples that choose our town as the destination for their wedding. I am truly blessed to be home and to say I am a wedding coordinator for Chapel of the Flowers. I truly have some of the most professional, knowledgeable, approachable, talented and friendly group of Wedding Planners, Photographers, Videographers, Ministers, florists, etc. to work with.

The most important day of your life!

Working at Chapel of the Flowers is an exciting and challenging experience.

My name is Beverly Embree and at the end of August I will be celebrating 2 years of employment as a wedding coordinator. Most days you can find me in the Victorian chapel, which is open for ceremonies Mondays thru Saturday and seats a capacity of 30 guests. Las Vegas has been my home for the past nine years; originally I am from Oregon where I thoroughly enjoyed working as a hairdresser, wedding coordinator, event planner and part time caterer.

The best part of my day happens when our couples arrive in the chapel for their ceremonies. Their excitement, nervousness, and happiness is so contagious that you feel as if you have been personally invited to the hottest ticket in town. What we hear from our couples is how easy it was to plan their wedding and that their wedding day was a dream come true.

Whether you start planning your wedding online at our website http://www.littlechapel.com/ or speak to one of wedding planners at 800-843-2410 you will see that not only is it easy to do; but all the extra products we offer such as; white doves that are set to fly off into the sky, Grand Canyon flights with a picnic lunch, an organist, guitarist, harpist or a violinist to personalize your music selection add to making your wedding day one of a kind.

Our goal here at the chapel is to make your wedding day the most special of fantastic moments in your life. After you return home from your honeymoon or on your first anniversary there is nothing better than sitting and looking at all of your wedding photos or watching the DVD of your ceremony with family and friends. Reliving those wonderful moments when you anxiously awaited the arrival of the limo to take you to the chapel, or the first time you looked at, held and smelled your beautiful bouquet of roses and lillies, and walk back up the aisle after becoming husband and wife. Ahhh!

You are invited to visit Chapel of the Flowers website to take at look at what we offer to all of you planning your dream wedding or those of you who are thinking of renewing your vows. We would like nothing better than to plan that special day just for you.

Happy planning!

45 Years and Counting

We love doing weddings here at Chapel of the flowers but our favorites are the Renewal of Vows. On June 27th, 2009 I had the pleasure of coordinating a "Chapel legend." Arthur & Sharon Kajiwara were married @ Chapel of the flowers in 1965. That is 45 year of successful marriage!!!

As a surprise for their 45th anniversary Arthur along with one of his daughters, planned a secret vacation for Sharon. Arthur and Sharon arrived in Vegas Friday at the Golden Nugget where they stayed. The following day Sharon was informed of the Vow Renewal. Sharon said that the whole trip was just one shock after another: being picked up in a white limo for the wedding, pulling up to the chapel whey were married in 45 years ago, seeing her children and grandchildren waiting on the porch for them to arrive. When they came to me to prepare for the ceremony, we asked for stories of their first wedding. Sharon said that they stayed in a "roach motel" down the street from the chapel and the chapel was so much smaller than it is today.

Arthur and Sharon Kajiwara were able to celebrate for the second time at Chapel of the flowers their love for each other only this time they were surrounded by their family!

From the Chapel of the Flowers, we wish Arthur & Sharon and their Children & Grandchildren many more loving years together!

New and improved Chapel of the Flowers!

Hello everyone! We have decided to start our blog back up again and hopefully there will be a new post everyday.

I will start off by introducing my self. My name is Katelyn DeGraw and I have been with Chapel of the Flowers since June 1, 2008 and I am a Las Vegas native! I am new to the chapel scene but I have been planning and coordinating weddings for a year now. I also was just married this last March and because of this I feel like I have that much more to offer our couples. I know that on my wedding day I wanted to feel like the world revolved around me and I can see that most of our couples feel the same way! I am a Coordinator here and I LOVE my job. When you come to Chapel of the Flowers our goal is for you to have the best experience possible. I have had a couple tell me recently that we made there wedding day the easiest part of their trip to Las Vegas. We can make this happen because of our amazing staff and I am happy to be apart of this team!

Here at Chapel of the flowers, we have been serving couples for almost 60 years now. Even though the chapel itself is aging in years, it looks brand new! The owners and staff keep the grounds clean and "updated" so that your pictures don't look like you were married at the same chapel your mother did 30 years ago. We have people walk in all the time and tell us that they got married 10, 15, 20 years ago and hardly recognize the place. Improvements are happening here constantly so that we can provide better service to our couples and their guests. Please jump on our website @
http://www.littlechapel.com/ and check out our 3 chapels, garden and gazebo. Also take a look at our packages. You may be surprised at how inexpensive luxury and pure bliss can be!

Congratulations to all those who are newly engaged or have been engaged for years. We at Chapel of the Flowers can't wait to plan your wedding with you!

-Katelyn DeGraw
