A RING OF GOLD

This past Monday, September 21, 2009 the Victorian staff had the absolute pleasure of meeting David Price and Suzanne Nash from Pontyclun, Wales. During the checkin process we ask the couple for their rings so we may take a few pictures with their flowers.

As David opened this beautiful wooden box your eyes fell on their rings, especially the grooms and hence the story he told of how he obtained this ring.

The ring is a family heirloom and has been passed down for five or six generations. The first generation grandfather and 3 friends were mining gold in Oklahoma and found a large nugget and was split into fourths, giving each some of the gold to do with what they wanted. David's grandfather had his share made into a wedding style band. which was retained in the natural form of gold, so this ring's appearance takes on a copper color because there was no other method used to treat the gold ore.
As a young boy his grandfather gave him the ring to keep for his wedding day. He said to his grandfather that the ring was too big and was told that he would grow into the ring. And sure enough it was a perfect fit.

The most important day of your life!

Working at Chapel of the Flowers is an exciting and challenging experience.

My name is Beverly Embree and at the end of August I will be celebrating 2 years of employment as a wedding coordinator. Most days you can find me in the Victorian chapel, which is open for ceremonies Mondays thru Saturday and seats a capacity of 30 guests. Las Vegas has been my home for the past nine years; originally I am from Oregon where I thoroughly enjoyed working as a hairdresser, wedding coordinator, event planner and part time caterer.

The best part of my day happens when our couples arrive in the chapel for their ceremonies. Their excitement, nervousness, and happiness is so contagious that you feel as if you have been personally invited to the hottest ticket in town. What we hear from our couples is how easy it was to plan their wedding and that their wedding day was a dream come true.

Whether you start planning your wedding online at our website http://www.littlechapel.com/ or speak to one of wedding planners at 800-843-2410 you will see that not only is it easy to do; but all the extra products we offer such as; white doves that are set to fly off into the sky, Grand Canyon flights with a picnic lunch, an organist, guitarist, harpist or a violinist to personalize your music selection add to making your wedding day one of a kind.

Our goal here at the chapel is to make your wedding day the most special of fantastic moments in your life. After you return home from your honeymoon or on your first anniversary there is nothing better than sitting and looking at all of your wedding photos or watching the DVD of your ceremony with family and friends. Reliving those wonderful moments when you anxiously awaited the arrival of the limo to take you to the chapel, or the first time you looked at, held and smelled your beautiful bouquet of roses and lillies, and walk back up the aisle after becoming husband and wife. Ahhh!

You are invited to visit Chapel of the Flowers website to take at look at what we offer to all of you planning your dream wedding or those of you who are thinking of renewing your vows. We would like nothing better than to plan that special day just for you.

Happy planning!

Butterflies in my tummy...

It's the feeling of accomplishment when you get your very first driver's license. The 15 minutes of fame for sitting with the cool kids at lunch. The excitement from winning free movie tickets for being caller number 10. The pride in seeing your first-born child graduate kindergarten. For the purpose of this blog -- the priceless look of admiration on the groom's face, as he sees his bride walk down the aisle.

Yup, a close portrayal of the cocktail of emotions that overcame me as I rushed out of my house this morning, only to be yanked by the glimpse of our chapel in country singer Carrie Underwood's new music video for Last Name.

The hustle and bustle of excitement with the chapel's brush with fame didn't give me a chance to even see the music video in its entirety. Yet seeing the familiar glow of "Little Chapel of the Flowers" on the side of the famous Victorian Chapel, was like reciting the words to a song you haven't heard in years but yet you remember it word for word.

Despite the many days we'd go home with the remnant fumes of paint on our clothes, seeing the "wet paint" sign only after a close call with almost sticking your hand on the wall into the permanent paint that took days to complete and who can forget the case of the "missing roll of chapel wallpaper", as we all looked upon each other with suspicion, only to find out it was just stuck on top of the chapel's flower cooler --was all worth it after seeing the final product.

I finally understood how Michaelangelo may have felt overwhelmed with the work he had cut out in front of him during the 40 years of work he invested into the Sistine Chapel --now, of course, there is quite a discrepancy in magnitude of work between the Sistine Chapel and the renovations that the Victorian Chapel has undergone but the pristine masterpiece that the Victorian Chapel has become is a close parallel, in the eyes of the chapel family.

Thus, it is no surprise that a rising star, such as Underwood, would choose, of all the chapels to choose from in Las Vegas, would choose our very own, kindergarten graduate --Victorian Chapel with its new silver-screen qualities, in it's music video debut.

Signing off...
